Egypt secured first place at the ITU Global CyberDrill 2025, with the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT) earning the top overall score at the international cybersecurity exercise held in Dubai from 6 to 8 May.
Organised by the ITU’s Telecommunication Development Sector and hosted by the UAE Cybersecurity Council during GISEC 2025, the event saw participation from 138 countries, setting a Guinness World Record for the largest number of teams involved.
EG-CERT, part of Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority, outperformed competitors in simulated cyberthreat scenarios and was honoured by the ITU Secretary-General.
The CyberDrill aims to build national cybersecurity readiness, encourage international cooperation, and improve operational procedures for cyber incident response teams globally.
