EDA chief discusses pharma export boost with ECMI

The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Chairman Ali El Ghamrawy on Thursday held an extensive meeting with representatives from the Federation of Egyptian Industries’ Pharmaceutical Chamber and the Export Council for Medical Industries (ECMI). The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation in supporting pharmaceutical exports and overcoming challenges facing Egyptian exporters.

Discussions focused on streamlining regulatory procedures related to exports to improve the competitiveness of local pharmaceutical products in regional and global markets.

Participants reviewed obstacles encountered by manufacturers and exporters and explored ways to strengthen the regulatory framework for exporting medicines and medical supplies.

Key proposals included establishing a unified export management division to reduce procedural timelines and facilitate export flows.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of digital transformation in export operations and called for expanded training and technical support programmes to improve the skills of export sector workers, helping to raise the quality and global competitiveness of Egyptian products.
