Egypt, France eye veterinary trade cooperation

The head of Egypt’s General Organisation for Veterinary Services (GOVS) Hamed El-Aknas held a meeting with the regional agricultural counsellor at the French Embassy in Cairo Jean- Philippe DOP to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and technical coordination in veterinary oversight of animal-origin products.

The talks focused on areas of joint interest, including veterinary inspection and accreditation of animal products, with the aim of harmonising health and technical standards governing trade in veterinary-controlled goods.

Both sides stressed the importance of facilitating smoother trade flows between Egypt and France while upholding international standards and ensuring the safety of livestock.

Discussions also covered trade exchange mechanisms, import-export procedures, and potential collaboration in training and capacity-building for veterinary personnel.
