Egypt will continue supplying fertilisers through September to fully meet farmers’ needs, with simplified procedures and closer monitoring to ensure fair access and stable prices, Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk said on Monday.
The announcement followed a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly to review measures aimed at strengthening fertiliser governance and preventing manipulation in distribution. Farouk said the ministry is enforcing strict disbursement rules and carrying out field inspections to make sure supplies reach intended beneficiaries.
Madbouly stressed the government’s commitment to securing agricultural inputs as a driver of productivity and food security. He said Egypt is supporting its fertiliser industry and encouraging new investment to raise output, meet domestic demand and build export surpluses.
The meeting also reviewed efforts to modernise the sector, expand digitalisation of services, tighten oversight, and improve transparency across the supply chain from production plants to farmers, according to a cabinet statement.
