Women represent half of Egypt’s MSMEDA clients – CEO

Women account for 50 per cent of clients at Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), its CEO said Saturday, underscoring its drive to support young entrepreneurs and recent graduates.

Speaking at the fourth Egyptian Women’s Summit, MSMEDA’s Basel Rahmy detailed the agency’s five-year strategic plan to provide training, mentorship, feasibility studies, and structured financing to help youth launch and scale sustainable enterprises. The programme aims to drive innovation, generate jobs, reduce imports, and boost exports.

Rahmy highlighted accessibility improvements, including awareness campaigns, digital platforms, and the National Platform for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, while noting that 51 per cent of beneficiaries come from Upper Egypt.

The session, hosted by Dina Abdel Fattah, CEO of the Top 50 Women Forum, was part of a broader effort to expand entrepreneurship and economic participation among youth and women in Egypt.
