Egypt launches new UPA digital portal

Egypt has launched a new digital portal for the Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) as part of efforts to advance healthcare digitalisation and strengthen the country’s role as a regional hub for medical procurement and logistics, UPA Chairman Hisham Stait said Wednesday.

The portal integrates the authority’s services, digital systems and frameworks for regional and international cooperation into a single platform, supporting Egypt’s strategy to reinforce healthcare supply chains, localise medical manufacturing, and expand exports to African markets, according to a Cabinet statement.

The platform provides a unified interface for public and private suppliers and manufacturers, as well as development partners, offering direct access to the national Unified Electronic Procurement System (MediQ). It also serves as a coordination hub for continental initiatives in cooperation with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The portal is designed to facilitate organised access to African markets through initiatives such as digital harmonisation with several African countries, while supporting information exchange, institutional integration and transparent export mechanisms.

It also features updates from the EVMA-RCCN Capacity Building Centre, designated by Africa CDC as the regional centre for North Africa, which focuses on workforce development, technology transfer and regulatory alignment to integrate Egyptian manufacturers into African bio-manufacturing value chains.

The launch reflects UPA’s focus on smart governance, regional integration and building resilient medical supply chains to support health security across the region.
