Egypt signs $350 million deal for integrated textile complex

Egypt has signed a contract with an initial investment of $350 million to build a fully integrated textile and spinning industrial complex under the private free zones system, the Ministry of Industry and Transport said Monday.

The deal, inked between Elsewedy Industrial Development Company and Crystal International Group, one of the world’s largest apparel manufacturers, will develop the project on 800,000 square metres at Industria October Industrial City in New October City.

Minister Kamel El-Wazir said the facility, strategically located near ports and transport networks, will support exports and align with the government’s sustainable development plans. It will also expand to include garment accessories, dyeing, and printing operations.

The complex will integrate fibre spinning, yarn production, weaving, textile processing, finishing, and dyeing, using modern technologies to improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian textiles.

The project is expected to generate about 20,000 direct jobs, making it one of the largest labour-intensive projects in the textile and spinning sector. Crystal International Group said its investment reflects Egypt’s industrial infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strategic access to European, American, and Asian markets, calling it one of its largest regional textile investments.
