Egypt’s manufacturing, extractive industries index declines by 5.6% in Nov ’25 – CAPMAS

Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index declined by 5.6 per cent in November 2025, according to preliminary data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Monday. The index, which excludes crude oil and petroleum products, stood at 119.08 in November 2025 on a preliminary basis, compared with 126.13 in October 2025 on a final basis.

The agency said it applies an updated methodology using the 2012/2013 base year and industrial activity indices in line with the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC Rev.4), based on the monthly producer price index, a system in effect since January 2020.

Some activities recorded higher output during the month. The textiles industry index rose to 171.41 in November 2025 from 160.29 in October 2025, an increase of 6.94 per cent, driven by higher production. The index for other mining and quarrying activities also increased, reaching 132.20 from 121.79 over the same period, up 8.55 per cent due to increased output.

Other sectors posted declines. The index for printing and reproduction of recorded media fell to 123.18 in November 2025 from 139.27 in October 2025, marking an 11.55 per cent drop attributed to market conditions. The beverages industry index declined to 355.77 from 388.47, down 8.42 per cent, reflecting weaker demand.
