Egypt’s parliament approves Cabinet reshuffle under PM Madbouly
Egypt’s House of Representatives on Tuesday approved a Cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s government during a general session chaired by Hisham Badawy in New Capital.
The reshuffle included the appointment of Hussein Mohamed Ahmed Eissa as deputy prime minister for economic affairs and Mohamed Farid Mohamed Saleh, chairman of Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), as minister of investment and foreign trade.
Khaled Abdel Ghaffar was named minister of health and population, while Kamel El-Wazir retained the transport portfolio. Manal Awad also retained the local development and environment portfolio.
Badr Abdel-Atty remained minister of foreign affairs and Egyptians abroad, with the international cooperation portfolio added to his responsibilities.
Diaa Rashwan was appointed minister of state for information and Ahmed Roustom was named minister of planning.
Other appointments included Abdelaziz Konsowa as minister of higher education and scientific research, Randa Ali Saleh Fouad El-Menshawy as minister of housing and urban communities, Raafat Abdel Aziz Hindi as minister of communications and information technology, and Khaled Hashem Ali Maher as minister of industry.
Parliament also approved several deputy minister appointments, including Mohamed Aboubakr Saleh as deputy foreign minister for African affairs, Samar Mahmoud as deputy foreign minister for international cooperation, Ahmed Omran as deputy minister of housing for utilities. Walid Abbas Abdel Qawi Osman was named as deputy minister of housing for urban communities.
