Egypt’s remittances jump 28.4% in first 7 months of FY 2025/26
Remittances from Egyptians working abroad rose sharply in the first seven months of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, underscoring a key source of foreign currency inflows, central bank data showed on Tuesday.
Transfers climbed 28.4 per cent year-on-year to about $25.6 billion in the July–January period, up from roughly $20.0 billion in the same stretch of the previous fiscal year, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said.
The upward trend continued on a monthly basis, with remittances increasing 21.0 per cent in January 2026 to approximately $3.5 billion, compared with about $2.9 billion in January 2025.
The sustained growth in remittance inflows highlights improving confidence among Egyptian expatriates and provides critical support to the country’s external accounts, as authorities seek to bolster foreign exchange liquidity and stabilise the economy.
