Egypt exported 5,065 food shipments totalling 230,000 tons during the week of 28 March to 3 April, said the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) on Sunday.
The shipments, handled by 1,400 exporting companies, covered around 730 food products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, processed produce, cereals, flour, and other food items.
Citrus led fruit exports with 45,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 20,000 tons, while other fruits accounted for 5,000 tons. Among vegetables, potatoes topped the list at 25,000 tons, with sweet potatoes and beans each at 5,000 tons, out of a total of 55,000 tons of exported vegetables.
Egyptian food exports reached 186 countries last week, with the largest markets including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Syria, the Netherlands, and Jordan, the NFSA said.
