URGENT: Egypt’s remittances surge 25.7% in February- CBE

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad rose 25.7 per cent year-on-year in February 2026 to $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion a year earlier, central bank data showed on Thursday.

Inflows also increased 28.0 per cent in the first eight months of fiscal year 2025/2026 (July–February) to $29.4 billion, compared with $23.0 billion in the same period a year earlier.

The increase in remittance inflows supports Egypt’s external accounts as authorities seek to strengthen foreign currency liquidity and stabilise the economy.
