Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi met Monday with Dan Moore, Vice President of ExxonMobil Global Lubricants, to discuss expanding cooperation in synthetic lubricants and refinery modernisation.
Talks covered the production, distribution, and marketing of high-quality lubricants. The two sides also reviewed potential collaboration in petroleum refining, a priority under Egypt’s plans to modernize its refinery network.
ExxonMobil operates two facilities in Egypt — in Alexandria and the 10th of Ramadan City. Both sides discussed leveraging that capacity to serve domestic demand and scale up exports.
ExxonMobil officials called Egypt a strategic market and a regional launchpad for Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Locally produced lubricants currently reach over 30 countries. The company is targeting 45 markets in the near term. The company also signaled plans to expand investment in Egyptian manufacturing and technology, praising local talent as central to its regional operations.
Both parties agreed to keep working-level coordination ongoing. The Ministry pledged full support for ExxonMobil’s expansion plans, reinforcing Egypt’s ambition to become a leading regional hub for petroleum product manufacturing and export.
