Egypt’s EOS begins on-site inspections at Noatum-Safaga Terminal to speed clearance

Egypt’s standards authority has begun providing inspection and conformity assessment services at the Noatum – Safaga multipurpose terminal on the Red Sea, a move aimed at speeding up customs clearance and cargo handling, the industry ministry said on Thursday.

The Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation and Quality (EOS) launched operations at the terminal, which is operated by AD Ports Group, as part of efforts to expand technical and regulatory services at major ports and logistics hubs.

EOS Chairman Khaled Soufi said inspection, testing, and conformity assessment services would now be carried out directly at the terminal, reducing clearance times and improving service delivery for importers and exporters.

He added that the initiative is expected to facilitate trade flows through Safaga Port and support logistics activities serving industrial and commercial centres in Upper Egypt.

Soufi said the Safaga branch has been equipped with an electronic system that allows real-time data exchange with relevant government agencies, helping accelerate inspection procedures and reduce the time shipments spend in port.

The ministry said the move forms part of broader efforts to integrate logistics infrastructure with trade-support services as Egypt continues to expand port capacity and improve supply-chain efficiency.
