Egypt, Eni discuss gas output, Cronos project

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held talks on Monday with Eni officials on plans to increase natural gas production from the company’s concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea and Nile Delta, while reviewing progress on the project to connect Cyprus’s Cronos gas field to Egypt’s infrastructure.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the Cronos field development project, which aims to transport Cypriot gas to Egypt through existing infrastructure. The two sides reviewed the remaining technical and contractual procedures needed to advance the project.

Badawi highlighted the strong cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus in moving the project towards implementation and securing the final investment decision (FID) from the partner consortium.
