Egypt crude oil output tops 540,000 bpd, minister says

Egypt’s crude oil production has exceeded 540,000 barrels per day (bpd), Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy said on Wednesday, as the country seeks to increase domestic energy output and reduce imports.

Speaking during a review meeting with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), Badawy said crude production had returned to growth after a period of decline and urged continued efforts to build on recent gains.

He said increasing domestic production remained a priority to help curb the country’s import bill and support energy security.

Badawy also stressed the importance of maintaining high safety standards across the petroleum sector, calling for strict adherence to safety procedures at operating sites.
