The Egyptian pound was broadly stable against the US dollar early Sunday, extending a period of relative calm in the foreign-exchange market amid steady hard-currency liquidity and improved investor sentiment.
The dollar traded at an average of 49.75 Egyptian pounds for buying and 49.85 pounds for selling across five major banks as of 10:37 local time (0737 GMT), according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English.
| Bank | Buy (EGP/USD) | Sell (EGP/USD) |
| National Bank of Egypt (NBE) | 49.76 | 49.86 |
| Banque Misr | 49.74 | 49.84 |
| Commercial International Bank (CIB) | 49.7 | 49.8 |
| QNB Alahli | 49.7000 | 49.8000 |
| Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) | 49.8500 | 49.9500 |
The Egyptian currency has traded within a relatively narrow range against the greenback in recent weeks, supported by improved foreign-currency inflows and easing pressures in the domestic foreign-exchange market.
