The Egyptian pound was broadly stable against the US dollar in midday trading on Tuesday, extending a period of relative calm in the foreign-exchange market amid steady hard-currency liquidity and improving investor sentiment.
The dollar traded at an average of 49.72 Egyptian pounds for buying and 49.82 pounds for selling across five major banks as of 12:00 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English.
| Bank | Buy (EGP/USD) | Sell (EGP/USD) |
| National Bank of Egypt (NBE) | 49.73 | 49.83 |
| Banque Misr | 49.69 | 49.79 |
| Commercial International Bank (CIB) | 49.65 | 49.75 |
| QNB Alahli | 49.7200 | 49.8200 |
| Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) | 49.7900 | 49.8900 |
The Egyptian currency has traded within a relatively narrow range against the greenback in recent weeks, supported by stronger foreign-currency inflows and easing pressures in the domestic foreign-exchange market.
