Egypt exports 160,000 tons of food products in one week – NFSA

Egypt exported around 160,000 tons of food products in the week to 14 August, with Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Libya among the leading destinations, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday.

The exports comprised about 3,800 consignments shipped by 1,475 companies to markets in 181 countries, according to the NFSA’s 30th weekly report of 2026, covering 8-14 August.

The shipments included around 654 food products, ranging from vegetables and fruits to processed produce, flour, grain products, and other food items.

Vegetable exports totalled about 36,000 tons across 40 varieties. Sweet potatoes accounted for the largest share at 13,000 tons, followed by onions at 7,000 tons, and potatoes at 4,000 tons.

Fruit exports reached 30,000 tons across 32 varieties, led by strawberries at 10,000 tons. Citrus fruits and mangoes followed with 6,000 tons each.

Saudi Arabia was the largest destination for Egyptian food exports during the week, followed by Sudan, Libya, Spain, and the United States, the authority said.
