Egypt’s import bill of investment goods dropped 5.6 percent to $676.052 million in January from $716.203 million in the same period last year, according to a report.
“Egypt imported investment goods $9.97 billion in 2018, up 24 percent from $8.037 billion in 2017,” the state-owned statistics agency CAPMAS said in a recent bulletin sent to Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday.
Last January, Egypt imported pumps and fans at amount of $36.333 million, 26.4 percent down from $49.396 million during the same month in 2018.
Medical or surgical instruments and appliances imports also fell 42.7 percent to $11.625 million from $20.288 million last year, the CAPMAS said.
Egypt also imported sparks worth around $18.788 million in January against $18.814 million in 2018, marking a 0.1 percent decline.
“Special purpose motor vehicles imports climbed 3.9 percent to about $15.699 million from $15.077 million,” the agency added.
In addition, doors, sheets pilling, and structures of iron and steel imports increased 0.6 percent to 20.31 million from $20.193 million in January 2018.
“Automatics data process machines jumped 99 percent to $33.392 million, compared to $16.773 million,” the report showed.
Egypt imported machines for fibers and textiles of $8.389 million from $20.719 million, marking a 5.9 percent drop. Meanwhile, imports of lifts, pulley tackles, and self-propelled bulldozers grew 13 percent to $20.647 million versus 18.267 million.
“imports of machines having individual functions N.S.E recorded around $38.652 million, compared to $43.376 million, marking a 10.9 percent drop,” the CAPMAS said.
Egypt imported engine, generators, and electric motors worth $51.475 million, 24.6 percent up from $41.317 million last year.
Meanwhile, imports of telecommunications and centrals applications fell 61.2 percent to $10.761 million against $27.748 million, the agency said. Imports of seeds for sowing also fell 23.3 percent to $9.103 million versus $11.864 million.
“Import bill of tractors, complete units, climbed 65.8 percent to $22.912 million from $13.822 million,” the bulletin said. Egypt imported busses, micro buses, and mini-buses worth $7.707 million, 52 percent up from $5.07 million.
Moto vehicles imports for the transport of goods grew 9.4 percent to 30.098 million from $27.512 million.
