Egypt’s construction and infrastructure sector will take centre stage next month as the sixth edition of the Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards recognises companies and projects driving innovation, sustainability, and large-scale urban development across the country.
Organisers announced 83 finalists across 18 categories for the 2026 awards programme, which will be held on June 24 at the Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo.
The awards highlight achievements across Egypt’s built environment sector, including contracting, engineering, infrastructure, digital transformation, and sustainable construction, reflecting growing momentum behind green building practices and mega infrastructure projects.
“Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards shine a light on the projects, organisations, and individuals that are genuinely moving the needle in Egypt’s construction sector,” said Hala Omar, vice president of the Egypt Green Building Council.
“This year’s finalists reflect the growing momentum behind sustainable and responsible building practices,” she added.
The finalists include some of Egypt’s largest construction and development firms: Orascom Construction, the Arab Contractors, Hassan Allam Construction, Khatib & Alami, and the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), the master developer behind Egypt’s New Capital.
Organisers said 42 per cent of this year’s finalists are new entrants, underscoring the emergence of smaller and mid-sized firms in shaping the future of Egypt’s construction industry. New participants include Aboria Group, Al Shorouk Construction, Korra Energi, and Arab Facility Management.
The awards come as Egypt presses ahead with multi-billion-dollar infrastructure and urban expansion projects despite broader economic pressures and rising financing costs.
“Egypt’s construction sector is witnessing a profound transformation, as environmental responsibility and sustainable development become integral to the way projects are planned, designed, and delivered.” Ahmed Kamal Abdelmoneim, Executive Director, Federation of Egyptian Industries – Environmental Compliance Office and Sustainable Development (FEI-ECO), said.
Among the shortlisted projects in the Infrastructure Project of the Year category are smart irrigation and water networks in the New Capital, the Greater Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3 project, the Safaga Port multi-purpose terminal on the Red Sea, and the Alternative Axis for the Aswan Dam.
The Contractor of the Year category features Concord for Engineering and Contracting alongside Orascom Construction, Hassan Allam Construction, and the Arab Contractors.
Sustainable Initiative of the Year finalists include ACUD, Schneider Electric Egypt, PGESCO, and the Arab Contractors for Facility Management.
“The 6th edition of Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards reflects the quality of what Egypt’s construction sector is delivering,” said Josine Heijmans, senior vice president at dmg events.
“From major infrastructure milestones to sustainability-led initiatives and emerging talent, this year’s finalists demonstrate the depth of expertise and ambition that is driving the industry forward,” she added.
The awards programme also includes categories covering architecture, engineering consultancy, facilities management, smart cities, power and water projects, residential developments and digital transformation initiatives.
Winners will be selected through an independent judging process involving industry experts, academic leaders, government officials and executives from construction institutions, organisers said.
