Egypt is actively open to healthcare-related investment across its expanding new cities programme, including hospitals, medical education institutions, and research facilities, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy said on Thursday.
Egypt is open to increased healthcare-related investment across its new cities programme, including hospitals, medical education and research facilities, Minister of Housing Randa El-Menshawy said on Thursday.
Speaking at the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) UK Business Mission in London, El-Menshawy said healthcare investment was already taking place in cooperation with international partners and that further opportunities were available.
She said Egypt’s urban expansion strategy, including the New Capital, is integrating healthcare services into city planning from the outset.
She noted that healthcare is already attracting private investment in Egypt, often in cooperation with international institutions, and stressed that the country remains receptive to further engagement in the sector.
El-Menshawy pointed to ongoing development in the New Administrative Capital, where a dedicated medical city is planned as part of a broader strategy to integrate healthcare services into new urban developments. The initiative, she said, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that essential services are embedded within Egypt’s emerging cities from the outset.
Beyond hospitals and clinical facilities, she emphasised wider investment opportunities across the healthcare ecosystem, including health centres, specialised medical cities, universities, and medical education infrastructure. She said these areas present significant scope for collaboration in training, research, and institutional development.
El-Menshawy also highlighted the importance of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries within Egypt’s development strategy, linking them to the country’s broader efforts to attract investment and strengthen human capital.
She added that Egypt’s new cities programme is designed not only to expand housing and infrastructure but also to build integrated communities that combine healthcare, education, and economic activity, creating a more comprehensive investment environment for international stakeholders.
