Real estate deemed an essential service in California as of March 28

As of March 28, the California Association of Realtors announced that residential and commercial real estate is officially deemed an essential service, according to Krcr news on Driday.

Chad Phillips, owner of Vista Real Estate, says that business has been fairly steady, but the process on how they show their homes has changed.

Phillips tells KRCR that he and other realtors have been using FaceTime, Zoom and other platforms to virtually show homes to respect the social distancing measures. But when it comes to most people buying $300K, $400K or even $500K dollar homes, it’s typical that they would like to view it in person, said Chad.

And thanks to the California and Nation Association of Realtors, people now have the ability to do an in-person viewing by signing a form explaining to the home viewers the current health climate.

Chad says that although his real estate team is now able to conduct in-person viewing, they’re still taking the necessary precautions.

“We’re typically not traveling in a large group,” said Phillips. “So I would say given the guidelines dictated federally and statewide, you know we’re taking all the necessary precautions and being prudent.”

Chad says that people in our area are still looking for homes despite the pandemic due to new jobs arising right now. He says there are currently over 400 homes in escrow in Shasta County out of over 700 homes on the market.

Vista Real Estate is going to be providing those viewing a house the service of having the home they’re entering be sanitized by a disaster clean-up business. This will happen in between viewings so each visitor will be assured the home is as safe as possible in the near future.
