Moataz El-Sayed, head of the syndicate of tourist guides, said the syndicate got the approval of the tour guides committee, which was formed by ETAA, to increase the wage of tour guide to EGP 300 per day. He explained that the syndicate awaits holding a meeting with the board of ETAA to issue the decision and circulate it on the companies.
El-Sayed added that the syndicate is taking up with ETAA and the ministry how to respond to the tour guides demands, which concern banning the foreigner guides to work in the guiding career, in addition to securing the tour guides in the touristic attractions.
The syndicate hasn’t officially called for sit-in outside the Egyptian museum. The calls for closing it came because the tourism ministry didn’t respond to the tour guides demands, which are paying monthly compensation for the tour guides, the full health insurance, banning the foreigners form working in Egypt and intensifying the security forces in the tourism attractions.
On social network page “Facebook”, a number of tour guides renewed their calls for protests outside the Egyptian museum to close it; objecting on the tourism ministry, as it didn’t respond to their demands.
