Egypt has not witnessed any kind of a food crisis or a shortage of basic goods at the early stage of coronavirus pandemic, according to the Chairperson of the Chamber of Food Industries of the Federation of Industries, Ashraf El Gazayerli.
Food security is at the top of the government’s priorities on the president directives, he added.
He told Amwal Ghad that Egypt was among the top countries that dealt with food security during the pandemic crisis.
He added that the food sector was excluded during coronavirus lockdown, which let factories work 24 hours a week, which contributed to production stability, this action also led to meeting consumers needs in light of the increase in demand during that period.
