A reliable source in the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism said the current political tensions resulted in ignoring the World Tourism Organization (WTO) celebration of recording one billion tourists in 2012. As the ministry was planning to decorate the hotels in the tourism attractions in order to celebrate “1 billion tourists” and to receive tourists in airports with bunches of flowers and folklore bands, but the tensions and turmoil in Egypt led the ministry to cancel them.
Egypt’s inbound tourism from January to October in 2012 reached 9.8 million tourists; rose by 18.5, compared to 8 million ones in2011.
The source expected the tourism reaches 11 million tourists by the end of 2012, compared to 14.5 million ones in 2010.
