Egypt achieves primary surplus in FY 2022/2023 – minister
Egypt has achieved a primary surplus of 164.3 billion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to 1.63 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), as per the initial indicators of the financial performance for fiscal year (FY) 2022/2023.
Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said in a statement on August 10th, that this surplus has been achieved despite an 18.9 percent growth in public expenditures, while the total deficit fell to 6 percent in FY 2022/2023.
