The United States said on Tuesday that it opposes a new long-term occupation of the Gaza Strip by Israel.
The statement came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed “overall security” of the territory after the war.
“Generally speaking, we do not support the reoccupation of Gaza,” State Department spokesman Vedant Patel told reporters.
The Israeli attacks on Gaza killed more than 10,000 innocent civilians, the majority of which are women and children.
