The Deputy Assistant to Foreign Minister for Non-Aligned Affairs, Islamic Cooperation and Specialized International Agencies, Ambassador Amr Ramadan, received the new Burmese Embassy in Cairo.
The meeting was about Myanmar, as it has to respond to the demand of the Foreign Affairs Ministers during the meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) last November; in coordination with Myanmar authorities.
Ramadan has elaborated that convening the meeting depended on an Egyptian suggestion during the Foreign Affairs Ministers’ meeting in Djibouti mid-November, 2012.
The ambassador confirmed that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is working on the file of the Muslim minorities in non-Muslim countries. It succeeded in resolving the disputes between the governments of these countries and the Muslim minorities.
In February, Egypt will head the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for three years. Therefore, Egypt, as a head of the organization, will seek to make the file of Rohingya Muslims among its priorities to reach a solution for the case.
