Maersk pauses Red Sea shipping “until further notice”
Maersk announced on Tuesday that it will pause all Red Sea shipping “until further notice,” amid the ongoing Houthi attacks.
The suspension comes a day after the company posted a schedule of over 30 vessels set to pass through the Suez Canal and into the Red Sea.
“Following the 30 December incident involving our vessel, Maersk Hangzhou, we have decided to pause all transits through the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden until further notice,” the company said in a statement.
The company also said that vessels will continue to take the long route across Africa via the Cape of Good Hope.
