Egypt’s potato exports hit 650K tons
Egypt’s potato exports reached approximately 650,000 tons during the 23–24 export season until May 20th, said the Egyptian Cabinet in a release on Thursday, citing a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
The report underscores the European Union’s prominence as the leading importer of Egyptian potatoes, receiving approximately 350,000 tons.
Meanwhile, Russia ranked second, importing around 50,000 tons, followed by Arab countries, which constitute another significant market, accounting for roughly 180,000 tons of Egyptian potatos.
Additionally, other countries contribute to the demand, collectively importing about 70,000 tons of Egyptian potatoes. It is worth noting that the export season is still ongoing, indicating potential for further growth and diversification in Egypt’s potato export markets.
Egypt’s export season is between February and July.
