Europe’s second-highest court dismissed TikTok owner ByteDance’s challenge against its classification as a gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) on Wednesday, marking a win for EU antitrust regulators.
Companies designated as gatekeepers face a series of requirements to promote fair competition and provide consumers with more choices.
“The General Court dismisses the action brought by ByteDance (TikTok) against the decision of the [European ] Commission designating it as a gatekeeper,” stated the Luxembourg-based tribunal.
