Pakistan sets ambitious $60b export target for next 3yrs

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed the National Export Development Board on Tuesday to increase the country’s annual exports to $60 billion within three years.

The prime minister highlighted that the country’s exports exceeded $30 billion in the previous fiscal year, with IT exports reaching over $3.2 billion.

He directed the ministry to address exporters’ concerns and submit a report within two weeks. Prime Minister Shehbaz announced his intention to lead the National Export Development Board meeting personally every one-and-a-half month.

Furthermore, he instructed the commerce ministry to finalise policy proposals in collaboration with representatives from key export sectors.

The Ministry of National Food Security was tasked with enhancing extension services in coordination with provinces to boost agricultural exports.
