China’s trade surplus hits 601b yuan in July – data

China’s trade surplus in July reached 601.9 billion yuan, with total imports and exports of goods reaching 3,675.8 billion yuan, a 6.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year, and a 0.7 percentage points higher than June.

The country’s total exports reached 2,138.9 billion yuan in July, a 6.5 per cent increase, while imports totaled 1,536.9 billion yuan, up by 6.6 per cent, according to a recent data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.

In the first seven months of the year, total trade reached 24,833.5 billion yuan, up 6.2 per cent year-on-year. Exports grew by 6.7 per cent to 14,257.3 billion yuan, while imports increased by 5.4 per cent to 10,576.2 billion yuan.

The report showed that general trade accounted 64.7 per cent of total trade, grew by 4.9 per cent in the first seven months. Private enterprises contributed 55.1 per cent to total trade, a 2.3 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year.
