Global refining capacity to grow 4.9m bpd by ’28 – EIA

The global refining capacity is expected to see significant growth, with estimates ranging from 2.6 million to 4.9 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2028, the latest US Energy Information Administration (EIA) Global Refining Outlook showed on Wednesday.

According to the report, this expansion is primarily driven by new projects in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in China and India, as well as in the Middle East.

These expansions aim to meet the rising global demand for refined petroleum products, despite challenges such as potential project delays and geopolitical tensions.
