John Cockerill joins $900m green ammonia project in Egypt

John Cockerill, a global company, is set to enter into a partnership with Scatec and other companies to implement a green ammonia production plant in Damietta, Egypt, with an investment exceeding $900 million.

During a meeting with Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy, representatives of international companies stated that the European Union regards Egypt as a strategic partner in green energy and hydrogen cooperation, expressing their desire to implement many important projects in this field in Egypt and capitalize on the country’s enormous potential.

The green ammonia project, to be located in Damietta, will use Mobco’s facilities and include the construction of solar and wind energy plants. A hydrogen electrolyser will also be installed to produce 150,000 tons of green ammonia annually, which will be used as a clean fuel.
