European shares mixed as strong US jobs data impact wanes

European shares exhibited mixed performance on Monday as the initial excitement over last week’s robust US jobs data subsided, leading to pressure on rate-sensitive sectors like real estate and utilities due to rising bond yields.

By 6:15 ET (10:15 GMT), the pan-European STOXX 600 index was down 0.12 per cent, Germany’s DAX had declined by 0.24 per cent, while France’s CAC 40 saw a marginal increase of 0.04 per cent. Switzerland’s SMI also dipped by 0.01 per cent.

In contrast, London’s FTSE 100 rose by 0.28 per cent, and Spain’s IBEX 35 experienced a slight gain of 0.49 per cent.
