China’s railway network continues to expand in 10m

China’s railway network continues to expand rapidly as fixed-asset investment in the railway sector reached 635.1 billion yuan ($88.2 billion) in the first ten months of 2024, a 10.9 per cent increase year-on-year.

China’s total railway network now exceeds 160,000 kilometres, including an impressive 46,000 kilometres of high-speed railways. Recent developments include the launch of a new high-speed railway connecting Xuancheng and Jixi in Anhui Province.
