China’s joblessness among young people in cities continued to decline for the third consecutive month in November 2024, according to official data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.
The urban unemployment rate for individuals aged 16 to 24, excluding students, decreased to 16.1 per cent from 17.1 per cent in October. This marks a gradual improvement following a peak of 21.3 per cent reached in June of last year.
The unemployment rate for those aged 25 to 29 also saw a slight decline, falling from 6.8 per cent to 6.7 per cent. Meanwhile, the jobless rate for individuals aged 30 to 59 remained unchanged at 3.8 per cent.
The nationwide unemployment rate for November stood at five per cent, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
