Egypt’s Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir met with Djibouti’s Ambassador to Cairo, Ahmed Ali Bari to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various transport sectors, according to a Cabinet statement on Thursday.
Minister El-Wazir reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to deepening its ties with Djibouti, emphasising its support for mutually beneficial initiatives in line with the leadership directives of both nations. He highlighted Egypt’s readiness to assist Djibouti’s development by strengthening collaboration on infrastructure projects, providing technical expertise, and advancing cooperation in maritime transport, logistics, and road infrastructure.
Ambassador Bari praised Egypt’s recent achievements in infrastructure, particularly in road, rail, and maritime transport, noting significant progress in integrating ports with railway networks.
During the meeting, Minister El-Wazir outlined potential areas of collaboration, including investments in maritime transport and the creation of a logistics hub to bolster trade between Egypt and East Africa. The discussion also covered future joint projects, notably the establishment of a shipping line connecting the ports of Safaga and Djibouti to enhance trade relations.
