Egypt receives 1st Alstom train for Cairo Metro Line 1

Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir announced the arrival of the first air-conditioned train for the Cairo Metro’s first line, according to an official statement on Thursday.

The train is part of the contract to supply 55 trains from the French company Alstom, under the joint roadmap signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The contract aims to accommodate the growing number of passengers on Line 1 as a result of the completed Cairo Metro network and the planned extension from New El Marg to Shibin El Qanater, currently under study.

Notably, the new trains feature high-capacity air conditioning systems and secure corridor allowing passengers to move safely between carriages for added comfort.
