Egypt’s gold reserves inch up to $13.679b in May – CBE

Egypt’s gold reserves rose slightly to $13.679 billion in May from $13.629 billion in April, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Wednesday.

The modest $50 million increase reflects a continued buildup of Egypt’s strategic assets, as part of broader efforts to reinforce external buffers.

The CBE also reported that overall net foreign reserves climbed to $48.53 billion in May, supported by a rise in foreign currency holdings, which reached $34.809 billion, up from $34.324 billion in April.
