UK launches Green Growth Campaign in Egypt ahead of COP30

The British Embassy in Cairo launched the Green Growth Campaign, a major initiative aimed at accelerating climate cooperation between the United Kingdom and Egypt in the lead-up to COP30 this November, the embassy announced on Tuesday.

The campaign focuses on supporting Egypt’s global climate leadership, advancing green transformation, and expanding commercial partnerships.

As part of the initiative, the UK has set an ambitious target of attracting and supporting $500 million in renewable energy investments over the next six months. The British government and private sector have already invested more than $1 billion in Egypt’s renewable energy sector, recognising the country’s strong global potential in the field.

A recent milestone includes the approval of private renewable energy projects worth $388 million—marking a historic shift in Egypt’s energy landscape, as private producers are now allowed to operate without state guarantees for the first time.
