Egypt, Italy explore ICT investment, offshoring partnerships

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat held a series of meetings in Rome with senior Italian officials and industry leaders to boost cooperation in the ICT and offshoring sectors.

Talaat met with the CEO of Sparkle and President of Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo Enrico Bagnasco to discuss expanding partnerships between Egyptian and Italian ICT firms.

The talks also highlighted ongoing cooperation between Telecom Egypt and Sparkle and potential collaboration on digital training through Sparkle’s academies and Egypt’s WE Applied Technology Schools.

The minister outlined Egypt’s Digital Egypt strategy for Offshoring, citing competitive incentives, skilled multilingual talent, and robust infrastructure aimed at positioning the country as a global offshoring hub.

Bagnasco welcomed the talks as a first step towards engaging Italian companies with Egypt’s growing offshoring sector.

Talaat also met with the Head of International Relations at Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo Alfonso Siano to explore cooperation in FinTech innovation and possible expansion of the bank’s operations in Egypt.

In a separate meeting with President of outsourcing giant AlmavivA Gianfranco Previtera, the company expressed plans to scale up its Egypt operations and staffing, citing the country’s advantages in the offshoring field.
