Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) head Ali El-Ghamrawy received a high-level delegation from Mauritania, led by Health Minister Abdallah Weddih, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector, the Cabinet said.
The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration in pharmaceutical regulation, reflecting the shared interest in building a partnership based on knowledge exchange and regulatory integration to support sustainable health development across Africa.
El-Ghamrawy affirmed EDA’s commitment to expanding cooperation with sister countries, particularly in light of the rapid regional and global developments in the pharmaceutical sector. He expressed readiness to share EDA’s expertise to support Mauritania’s regulatory systems.
The Mauritanian health minister praised EDA as a role model for regulatory and institutional development, expressing interest in enhancing technical cooperation and leveraging Egypt’s expertise to boost Mauritania’s pharmaceutical industry.
Mauritania’s delegation expressed appreciation for the EDA’s progress and emphasised the importance of leveraging the Egyptian experience to build Mauritania’s technical and regulatory capacities on a sustainable scientific foundation.
The visit aligns with Egypt’s national strategy to expand cooperation with peer agencies in African and Arab countries, supporting pharmaceutical industry growth and advancing regional medicine security.
