Egypt, Nigeria discuss expanding energy cooperation at Gastech

Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ekperikpe Ekpo on the sidelines of the Gastech 2025 conference in Milan to discuss expanding cooperation in oil and gas.

According to a statement from the Egyptian petroleum ministry on Wednesday, the talks focused on sharing technical expertise, exploring investment opportunities in exploration, and collaborating on liquefied natural gas and infrastructure projects. The ministers also reviewed ways to increase the presence of Egyptian petroleum companies in Nigeria.

Both sides agreed to maintain consultations and coordination to open new avenues for cooperation, with the aim of strengthening Africa’s role in global energy markets, the ministry added.
