Egypt exports 210,000 tons of food last week – NFSA

Egypt exported around 210,000 tons of food products last week, with citrus fruits and sweet potatoes leading the shipments, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s (NFSA) third weekly report for 2026 on Sunday.

Between 17-23 Jan., the Authority recorded 5,900 food consignments from 1,540 exporting companies, covering nearly 764 types of products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, cereals, prepared foods, and other food items.

Fruit exports reached 82,000 tons across 30 varieties. Citrus topped the list at 67,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 8,000 tons, and assorted fruits at 7,000 tons.

Vegetable exports totalled 46,000 tons across 34 varieties. Sweet potatoes led the category with 10,000 tons, followed by beans and potatoes at 7,000 tons each.

The shipments reached 182 countries, with Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Sudan among the top importers.
