Egypt’s Cabinet approves extension of Sunday remote work through May
Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved extending a remote work policy allowing employees at designated state entities and institutions to work from home every Sunday through May, according to a government statement.
The decision, approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, extends the provisions of Prime Ministerial Decree No. 982 of 2026, introducing weekly Sunday remote work arrangements.
The policy applies to employees at public bodies and institutions covered by the decree.
The extension comes amid efforts to reduce energy consumption amid regional tensions, following earlier government measures.
