Egypt’s tourism sector has shown resilience despite ongoing regional tensions, with 2025 closing with a 21 per cent growth in tourism traffic compared to 2024. Momentum carried into 2026, recording a 20 per cent month-on-month increase compared to the same period last year.
Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathi presented the numbers during a meeting on Tuesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly to follow up on measures to support and stimulate the tourism sector amid regional challenges. .
Madbouly called for stronger measures to attract inbound tourism and streamline entry and exit procedures across all airports and border crossings.
Fathi credited the performance to Egypt’s stability and security. He said this has reinforced confidence among international markets alongside the country’s tourism diversity and effective marketing.
The Ministry outlined a series of measures to sustain growth, including maintaining airline routes, conducting field inspections, deepening private sector cooperation, continuing the 2026 promotional campaign, expanding participation in international travel exhibitions, intensifying familiarization trips, and countering misinformation.
