Egypt’s wheat deliveries hit record 4.6m tons

Egypt’s wheat deliveries from farmers reached 4.6 million tons, a record high at the current 2026 local wheat procurement season, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting on Wednesday.

Madbouly said the volume surpassed last year’s total of around 4 million tons, describing it as an unprecedented achievement for the country’s wheat procurement programme.

He attributed the increase in deliveries to the government’s efforts to ensure prompt payment of farmers’ dues.

Madbouly said the swift settlement of payments encouraged farmers to supply larger quantities of wheat this season, contributing to the highest delivery volume on record.
